Typical Heads Up Session
By on July 28thWhy is this a Typical Session?
When you play heads up poker you never play against two opponents that play exactly the same. So I suppose there really is no such thing as a typical heads up session… However, this video should give you an idea of what to expect when you sit down at the tables.
This video was recorded playing 50NL and 100NL tables on PokerStars and includes action from three different opponents.

Includes matches against three very different opponents where I discuss my thought process while playing. I make a bad call with Ac9c at the 12:00 mark – discussion is in the comments below.

About the Ac9c hand at 12:00…
I think that against this player I should have avoided a difficult situation by folding to his flop check raise. Having called the c/r I suppose that I am just barely getting odds to call the turn, however, there’s also a chance I’m drawing dead now that the board has paired… Fold.
I suppose my thought process was that if he did have the straight (A4) he would be going broke every time we hit our flush. After seeing his river shove I think we can discount A4 and be pretty confident that he had a boat, although the only one that really makes sense is 55. He’s still folding over 50% from the big blind, so there really shouldn’t be any 32, 52, and 53 hands in his range.
I hate it when I ramble on about something and then do the exact opposite. At least there’s a lesson to be learned from this, as with all mistakes!
